Know Nothing About Ordinance to Prevent Repetition of Opera House Disaster

MUST COMPLY WITH STATE

Burgess W. H. Dunlap, President of Council A. Sheldon and Councilman Charles G. Schade and Timothy O’Herron deny having any knowledge of the intention of the town council to enact an ordinance to prevent a repetition of such a panic as that of Saturday night, as was published in some of the Pittsburg papers.

President Sheldon said this morning, on his way to a train:

“No, I have no knowledge of any such ordinance. The borough could only enact an ordinance that would comply with the state law, and the state law for boroughs is quite different from that of cities. The laws for boroughs and townships on such matters as these are the same.
