The Daily Notes -- August 28, 1911 CORONER'S INQUEST AT WASHINGTON

People Think it Odd That Witnesses and Jury Are to be Transported out of Town

Canonsburg people are wondering why the inquest into Saturday night’s disaster is going to be held in Washington where the jury is composed of Canonsburg people and the witnesses reside here.

The coroner was called this afternoon and asked why he was taking the inquest to Washington. His reply was that there wasn’t a suitable room in Canonsburg. He was reminded that the Idle Hour theater would accommodate several hundred people. He then took a new tack and said that several witnesses would be at Washington Thursday attending a murder trial and that it was for this reason that the inquest would be held there.
