Little Cripple Who Was in Opera House Panic Escapes Uninjured

Lloyd Stokes, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Stokes, of the Third ward, was caught in the jam on the stairs of the Opera House Saturday night, and his escape seems wonderful. He is a crippled boy, his right leg being off at the hip. He uses a crutch to assist him in walking, and he had his crutch with him in the Opera House. The only reason he can give for not going down in the crush and being trampled to death was that he was beside the hand rail on the side of the stairway, and to this he held on for dear life. His mother was also at the Opera House, and after the dead and injured had been taken out she assisted what she could in caring for those hurt. Little Lloyd sold papers Sunday in order to gather a in few pennies.
