Pittsburgh Gazette Times -- August 27, 1911 BABY CARRIAGES REPORTED AT BOTTOM OF STAIRWAY
CANONSBURG, Pa., Aug. 27 - Among the reports that will be investigated by the coroner is one that there were several baby carriages at the bottom of the stair landing of the Grand Opera House in the Morgan building where so many lives were lost Saturday night by a stampede. It is said that the carriages hampered the escape of many. Mother had taken their babies in the carriages to the theater and the gocarts were alleged to have been parked near the stairway. Persons trying to escape from the building are said to have stumbled over the carriages, falling and being trampled by persons behind them.
