People All Over Country Ask About Safety of Friends

The printing of details of Saturday night's disaster in the newspapers of the country from Maine to California caused many people in all parts of the country to send telegrams here inquiring about their friends. These telegrams began pouring in yesterday, and today many more messages of inquiry poured in.

The telegraph office was kept open all Saturday night and all day Sunday and to midnight last night in order to handle the press matter being sent out by the score or more of newspaper reporters who came here.

From as far west as California and as far east as New York City came messages inquiring about people, and this will probably be kept up all day today.
