Pitiful Scenes Enacted in Thoroughfares of Stricken Town.
Crowds Gather at Morgues.

CANONSBURG, Pa., Aug. 27 - Scenes of the most pitiful nature were enacted on the main streets of Canonsburg this afternoon; scenes that brought tears to the eyes of the strongest men, the results of last night's theater horror. It seemed that everybody within a radius of many miles had congregated. In little knots they gathered about the two temporary morgues and discussed the terrible nature of the catastrophe. It seemed they had not yet realized the immensity of the affair.
Every few minutes someone would be seen to break down and cry violently, as the though of some horrible death some loved one had met flashed in one's mind's eye. Sympathetic friends, in many cases moved to tears, would lead the heart-stricken man away. It was not considered unmanly to be seen wiping moisture from the eyes.
